
Body-focused repetitive behavior(BFRB) is an umbrella name for impulse control behaviors that have compulsive damaging behavior of one’s physical appearance or causing physical injury.

Body-focused repetitive behavior (BFRB) are compulsive behaviors that feel out of control for the individual. They include pulling of hair (trichotillomania) from scalp, brows, lashes to even body hair.
Dermatillomania, the picking of the skin of the knuckles (via mouth) which can cause disfiguration of ones finger joints. Picking of skin or anything the client views as a blemish or flaw.
Body-focused repetitive behavior disorders (BFRBDs) are considered. Impulse control issues and are currently estimated to fall within the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety and ADHD categories. They can be helped with a combination of tools. Hypnotherapy combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Awareness & other Habit Reversal Training techniques. Combining these techniques with consistency and practice can dramatically reduce the unwanted behavior.
The evidence base criteria for BFRBs is strict and methodical; Individual behavioral therapy has been shown as one technique. Cognitive behavioral therapy was cited as a systematic review found best evidence for habit reversal training and decoupling. Another form of treatment that focuses on mindfulness, stimuli and rewards has proven effective in some people. By combining several techniques, we are able to target several mental blockers for change.
